IOScope brings 2-channel transfer function analysis to the iPhone

Payson, Utah -- Faber Acoustical, LLC announced that its new IOScope system analysis tool for...

Payson, Utah -- Faber Acoustical, LLC announced that its new IOScope system analysis tool for iPhone and iPod touch is now available for download on the App Store. With a suitable stereo audio input accessory, IOScope makes the iPhone an extremely powerful tool for measuring audio, acoustic, electric and electroacoustic systems, such as auditoriums, concert halls, loudspeakers, crossover circuits, PA systems, home stereos, and much more. Finally, two-channel transfer function and impulse response analysis comes to the iPhone! Finally, two-channel transfer function and impulse response analysis comes to the iPhone!

With IOScope users can measure frequency response magnitude and phase, coherence, group delay, impulse response, ETC, and correlation. IOScope’s built-in signal generator produces specialized excitation signals, including logarithmic frequency sweeps and periodic pseudorandom noise, for getting the highest quality measurements with little or no averaging.

IOScope also turns the iPhone or iPod touch into a platform for data acquisition, storing acquired data in tab-delimited text files, MAT-files, or images for later download to a Mac or PC. Different engineering units, including Volts, Amps, pascals, g's, and ips (inches per second) can be assigned to input channels of the dock connector audio input or the headset input (headset input not available on 1st generation iPod touch devices). Sensitivity calibration can also be performed for any audio input device or input channel.

IMPORTANT NOTE: iPod touch devices require additional external hardware to get audio signals into IOScope. The 1st gen iPod touch requires a dock connector input device (such as the Belkin TuneTalk Stereo or the MacAlly iVoice Pro) to be used with IOScope. All other devices can perform measurements with the headset connector, but using a stereo dock connector input device is recommended for the highest quality measurements. It is possible to use IOScope with an iPhone’s built-in microphone, but this is not generally recommended.

More information regarding suitable input devices for specific iPhone or iPod touch models can be found at http://blog.faberacoustical.com.

Pricing and Availability:
IOScope is now available for download on the iPhone App Store for $199.99 USD. External hardware may be required for analog input capability. More information on IOScope can be found at www.FaberAcoustical.com.

Santaquin, Utah - Building on the success of SignalScope for iPhone, Faber Acoustical, LLC announced the availability of SignalScope Pro for iPhone and iPod touch devices. SignalScope Pro, which has been available for Mac OS X since 2005, turns an iPhone or iPod touch into a powerful audio, electronics, and vibration analyzer. Significant new features include a 1/3-octave real-time spectrum analyzer (RTA), acoustic and vibration measurements, a built-in signal generator, and the ability to save and download measurement data.

"From the App Store's opening day, SignalScope helped to demonstrate the power and flexibility of the iPhone platform," said Ben Faber, owner of Faber Acoustical. "SignalScope continues to be our most popular iPhone app, despite the fact that it is our most expensive. The new SignalScope Pro will continue the tradition of pushing the limits of the iPhone's processing and display capabilities to put powerful measurement and analysis tools in the pockets of professionals around the world."

SignalScope Pro for iPhone OS devices is a real-time analysis toolset, suitable for use in areas such as acoustics, audio, electronics, and vibration. SignalScope Pro includes 3 tools for time or frequency domain signal analysis, as well as a signal generator for producing test signals.

SignalScope Pro also turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a platform for data acquisition, storing acquired data in tab-delimited text files or MAT-files for later retrieval from your device via a standard web browser.
