SNR requires that one of the cursors be turned on. THD measurements require a cursor, plus at least 1 harmonic cursor.

H3nry,

Version 3.4.2 addresses two issues that could potentially lead to excessive memory use. I would be interested to know if this version solves the issue you have been having.

H3nry,

How many input channels were you monitoring? Which input device were you using? Is this repeatable?

Thanks,

Ben

It turns out that the problem occurs when sandboxing is enabled for an app. Sandboxing is required for all app submissions to the Mac App Store, which is why this problem only affects the App Store version of the Toolbox. It would also seem that Tascam could solve the problem with their own drivers, since many other audio devices (including many of their own) work fine with sandboxing enabled.

I have acquired a Tascam US-144mkII for testing and can confirm that it does not appear in the device list in Electroacoustics Toolbox. At least now, I can start digging for a real solution to this problem.

Tascam's last version of the Mac drivers for the US-800 is 1.0.9, which has not been updated specifically for 10.8 (Mountain Lion).

Is it possible for you to uninstall version 2.10 for the US-1800 and install version 2.0 instead? Maybe it's a Tascam driver issue.

What are you referring to by "latest software (2.10)"?

I'm still baffled by this. Do you have any other audio apps running when you launch Electroacoustics Toolbox?

H3nry,

I'm sorry for leaving you hanging. I still haven't been able to reproduce the problem, and I have been working with USB and FireWire audio interfaces, including a Tascam US-800.

Does it matter whether you use an admin or non-admin account? Does the problem persist with version 3.4 of the Toolbox? Also, are you running 10.8.4?

Thanks,

Ben

What was the last version of the Toolbox that you know presented all your devices in the list?

H3nry,

You are the second user to report this. I have never observed this issue on Mountain Lion, with either the App Store or non-App Store versions of Electroacoustics Toolbox.

Did you download the Toolbox from the App Store? Are you aware of any security restrictions in place on your Macs that might affect the appearance of USB devices in the audio device list?

Electroacoustics Toolbox acquires the current list of audio devices from the Mac OS, so I suspect that there's a fairly simple explanation/solution to this issue.

Thanks,

Ben

IOScope / Re: IR capture/recording
« on: May 07, 2013, 11:37:33 AM »
IOScope is a dual-channel analysis tool, which means that it uses two channels to capture a single IR. It is not presently equipped to capture more than one IR at a time.

If you need to acquire multiple IR's simultaneously, you might be interested in Electroacoustics Toolbox for Mac OS, which can capture an arbitrary number of measurements simultaneously (subject to your hardware limitations).

RoomScope includes a subset of the dual-channel measurement capability of IOScope. RoomScope 1.3 also adds single-channel IR acquisition for those who wish to use balloons or starter pistols to generate the impulse stimulus. The single-channel IR tool in RoomScope is capable of capturing IR's from multiple microphones simultaneously (subject to your hardware limitations).

redbox,

I'm sorry you're having a tough time.

Have you read the calibration tutorials in the Help files (you can access them from the Help menu in the app)? There are tutorials for input and output voltage calibration, as well as microphone calibration.

redbox,

Have you also calibrated the voltage sensitivity of the audio input device your mic is connected to? If that voltage sensitivity isn't correct, then the acoustical measurement won't be correct, either.

Jasonaudio,

The high-pass filter is bypassed in our measurement apps as of iOS 6. You can learn more about this on the blog.

Microphone sensitivity calibration is always recommended. However, if you don't have a microphone calibrator handy, it may be more convenient to perform a voltage calibration and then manually enter the acoustic sensitivity (mV/Pa) that was provided with the i436.

SignalScope Pro / Re: Accelerometer buffer length
« on: February 19, 2013, 09:00:51 AM »
I'm sorry SignalScope Pro crashed. Will you please provide additional details about when it crashed? Were you able to export the data to a file? How much data did you acquire?

Since you mention rebooting without success, was the crash repeatable, or did the app fail to launch after the initial crash?

Thanks,

Ben
