Signal Generator

The powerful Signal Generator builds on the test signal synthesis capabilities of SignalSuite 2.

Synthesize the following signals:

  • Periodic signals
    • Sinusoid
    • Variable-duty-cycle rectangular waveform
    • Triangle waveform
    • Sawtooth waveform
  • Broadband noise signals
    • Random noise (white and pink frequency weighting)
    • Maximum Length Sequence--MLS (white and pink frequency weighting)
    • Pseudorandom noise (white and pink frequency weighting)
  • Swept sine (chirp) signals
    • Linear sweeps (up, down, or both)
    • Log sweeps (up, down, or both)
    • Phase-locked cosine sweeps (up, down, or both)

Audio Unit Support

SignalScope Pro's built-in stereo (2-channel) signal generator supports generator-type Audio Unit plug-ins. Generator Audio Units were introduced in Mac OS X Tiger (version 10.4). The Mac OS includes two generator Audio Units: AUAudioFilePlayer and AUNetReceive.

AUAudioFilePlayer allows you to select one or more audio files for playback. One or more regions within each file can be defined for once-through or repeated playback.

AUNetReceive works together with the AUNetSend effect Audio Unit to conveniently route audio streams between applications or even between computers over a network connection.

SignalScope Pro's ability to directly analyze the output of the Signal Generator tool means that you can now conveniently and directly analyze signals from audio files or from other Audio Unit host applications.
